DJ Nico Gracias is one of the main “cats” in Lubo’s novel, Four to the Dance Floor.
Nico’s music fills dark and smoky nightclubs, and now you can listen (download and burn) the DJ’s mixes in two legendary spots that are featured in the book: Minton’s Nightclub in New York City and Club Sem Terra in São Paulo, Brazil.

Minton’s Nightclub, NYC

“Minton’s is the place where it all began for me – a truly special New York City hangout
where the crowd just wants to get down.  The tunes at Minton’s are as diverse as the clientele, but at the core of it is the love for pure dance music.  About the few things I know when I get behind the turntable is that I’ll be playing something from Liverpool in honor of Gene the clubowner, that Dave the bartender will pour me a strong drink, and that Lubo will have some ‘old skool’ requests.  The DJ is free to experiment behind the decks and this mix is a typical example. You have classic house tracks, rock, jazz, reggae, dub – it’s all dance music to me.  Some folks may say that you can’t
mix Duke Ellington and Blue Six, Miguel Migs and the Eagles, James Brown and the Beatles, or Louis Armstrong and the Rolling Stones, but that’s all right, mama.  These people have never read the book Four to the Dance Floor – or the bald bouncer at Minton’s, my man Bobby G, never let them in!  Hear it, read it, get down.”

Club Sem Terra, São Paulo, Brazil

“Lubo writes what happens on and off the dance floor in Club Sem Terra, but all I’ve got to say about the place is that there must be something in the air.  Just let yourself go, shake your hips and move your feet – the samba and bossa nova tracks will take care of the rest.  I’ll cut out the lights, level the vibes, and it’s an audible interlude when the needle touches the wax.  Brazilians are some of my favorite crowd – they love to get down and their caipirinhas simply add more fuel to the fire.  This mix here
showcases some of my favorite floor-fillers in the Maracana of nightclubs.  The house is smoking with Brasileiro-inspired beats and some funky deep house tracks.  We wrap things up with the tasty Kiana, a colorful Bah Samba, and the one and only Black Sabbath (full disclosure: it was Lubo’s request).  All good things come to an end, and if you want an encore all you have to do is flip the pages of Lubo’s novel, Four to the Dance Floor.  I’ve said enough – it’s time to rock the house.”
